Nokia's 5230 isn't apt to blow any minds with the likes of the HD2, Droid and XPERIA X3 on the horizon, but for those perfectly content with a touchscreen-based Symbian S60 5th Edition handset, this one sure looks purty. Nokia has announced new N900 tablet full touch screen cellphone. It is running on new Linux-based Maemo 5 software, Nokia N900 tablet support multi-tasking and powered by a powerful ARM Cortex-A8 processor, OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration and up to 1GB of application memory.

The Nokia N900 tablet comes with 32GB built-in storage and can be expandable up to 48GB via microSD slot. More, you got a WVGA resolution touch screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, HSPA and WLAN wireless data connection.

The Nokia N900 tablet will be available from 1st week of October 2009 in selected market. It comes with an estimated price of EUR 500 excluding sales taxes and subsidies and will be displayed at Nokia World.

Nokia’s not a company that’s known for ultra-survivable and rugged gear, but I guess they figured out that rugged phones are a good idea. The 3720 candybar features a 2 megapixel cam with LED flash, triband EDGE, FM radio, microSD expansion, and Bluetooth 2.1.

The phone is built to meet IP54 standards. What this means is that “ingress of dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the satisfactory operation of the equipment; complete protection against contact”. That means that it may get dirty as anything, but it’ll keep functioning and it can also withstand “splashing” water. The 3720 will cost just €125 (about $175) unlocked and ships later this summer.
